Library Thing Widget

This quick post announces the addition of a LibraryThing widget to the sidebar. The widget feeds on recent additions to my LibraryThing catalog (above), a long-awaited follow-on to the very first post on this blog last year (An Extensive Reading (ER) Project, March 1, 2007). This post is also the second half-century post (150 of 150, today) on the Writing Studio Blog.

  1. The cover photo for the second book in the Japanese Harry Potter series was unavailable when I checked Amazon Japan's offerings. It wasn't available from another Japanese source, either, when I added that book to my Library Thing collection.

I have found it among Library Thing member cover photos accessible through links in the sidebar on the page for the book.

I added the photo from the 161 available today to my collection; here's how: first, by copying the URL for the cover photo I wanted, with a right-click on the photo (option+click for Mac); and second, by pasting the URL into the "Grab by URL" field in the page for the book in my collection (control+V, Windows; command+V, Mac).

Now I have cover photos for all of the Japanese books in my collection. Please let me know whether I noted the Mac commands correctly, I've added them from memory (mine) while working on a Windows system.

  3. Hello.
    I'm Miyo:-)
Your WritingIII class is really interesting!

Now I'm trying to read many books written in English.
    But it's so hard...

    What is your favorite book?

  4. Hey, Miyo! Thanks for dropping by.

The best book I've read recently is called Mountains beyond Mountains, by Tracy Kidder (2004, Random House, paperback edition). I read that in a flash, on a break from my extensive Japanese reading project - the Harry Potter series.
